Yet another spur of the moment vacation

Monday the kids were out of school and I was going totally bunk house (translation: crazy from being stuck inside) so I concocted a plan. I found this great 10X7 foot area rug on Craigslist for only $50 but it was way the heck out in Lakebay (tim buck too). I decided if I was going to drive an hour up the Olympic Peninsula then I may as well keep going and head up to Port Townsend. It was only another hour and half so why not? You all know Alan's up for anything so he told me to go for it and he would meet us there when he got off work. So I hurried about throwing clothes, and food and dog stuff together so we could get out of the wretched house as soon as possible. I was ready to go within an hour of making the decision. Off we went, 4 kids a dog and me! I know your thinking I'm crazy right now and your probably right. I will admit that I forgot clean underwear for Alan, socks for everyone and a few toothbrushes were left behind. But seriously, it was only 2.5 days, who needs to be hygienic all the time?
I didn't even pre book a hotel, I just drove up there and picked one. It wasn't actually a hotel though, it was more of the motel variety. A motel is your only option when you have 4 kids and a dog in tow. Aside from the 2 worst nights sleep I've ever had it was nice to get away from home and not worry about doing laundry or cooking. The kids got to watch cable, swim in the indoor pool and eat junk, it was like heaven. As for Port Townsend...boring! It's a cute little town but it was totally shrouded in fog and it was 35 degrees out. Half the shops were closed down because it's winter (what kind of crazy tourist would visit in the middle of the week in January anywhy?!?). I took almost no pictures but here's the few I did get.

No, this is not our Motel! It's a bunker at Fort Warden.

And...I found this one on the internet. This is what Port Townsend could look like if you choose to visit any other time than the middle of January!

Husband Tag

What's your husbands name? Alan Keith
How long have you been married? 11 1/2 years
How long did you date? 3 month
How old is he? 31
Who eats more sweets? I would have to say him. Even if we eat the same things, he eats way more than me.
Who is a better singer? I am, but that's not saying much!
Who is smarter? We both like to think we're the smartest. Really he's smart at the things I'm not and vice versa. I like to think we've reached genius level between the two of us.
Who does the laundry? I wash and fold and make the big kids put them away.
Who pays the bills? I have for 10 years now. I hate it! Alan would do much better than me but he works so much that he just doesn't have time.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Alan
Who mows the lawn? Alan, but only when it's reached heights most lawns never see. We may loose a child in the yard one of these days.
Who cooks dinner? That's tricky. I do some nights, Taylor does some nights, Alan cooks a mean breakfast anytime of day as well.
Who drives? Usually Alan, but that's because I'm lazy and I rather be a bum in the passenger seat.
Who is the first to say they are wrong? ME!!! I think Rigtrups were born perfect because they are never wrong!
Who kissed who first? He kissed me.
Who asked who out first? He did.
Who wears the pants? It's a pretty equal fit!
I tag: Michelle

The Boss...Day 2!

Really it's day 1 because we got him last night, but whatever! So it just so happens that this is the perfect dog. He is peppy and fun and a little crazy. He can totally hold his own with our brood of children even though he's as big as one of their shoes. Yet the second you pick him up he just snuggles right into you...every time. It never fails, he can be running in circles then the next minute fast asleep in your arms. He's so sweet. Here's a couple pictures I snapped of him with Alan today just before a photo shoot I had this afternoon. P.S. I promise I won't become a crazy dog person and turn this into a dog blog! For all my none dog loving friends who have commented...I was SO NOT a dog lover either, but seriously how could you not love this little guy!!!

Um...yes, he wears this little hoodie all time. Alan was mortified but it's actually necessary. He's so tiny that he gets really cold. I'm pushing for a spiked collar but Tanner has put his foot down and is refusing. He says that he doesn't want Boss to be a bully. I explained to him that he's like 3 pounds, I think it's a safe bet that he won't be a bully but Tanner's still not having it. I'll win this one I tell you! You'll see, there will be spiked collar on this little guy some day!

The rest of the pictures are from last night when we brought him home.

I have to watch The Boss and Lula VERY closely. They love each other deeply but dangerously! At least they like the same toys, they actually share nicely. His dog bone for her fluffy stuffed animal, why not! Her binky for his sqeaky tiger. His dog food for her cracker. I guess this is sorta like having twins except I only nurse one of them!

Meet...The Boss!

Well we did it. We broke down and bought Tanner a dog. If there was ever a little boy that was made to have a dog, it's Tanner. He is the most tender hearted, animal loving child I have ever met. We were trying to get a dog from our good friends for him for Christmas but the stars didn't align and it wasn't meant to be. I've been looking on Craigslist and when I saw this little guy I knew he was the one. He was just staring at me in the picture asking me to bring him home. Tanner has had no idea that we have been planning to get him a dog. When I showed him the dogs picture he just about melted. I called Alan and told him we had to get him. As soon as he got home tonight Tanner, Taylor and I went to go pick up "Boss". He is the biggest puppy in the litter and the alpha male so they had dubbed him "Boss". We could have changed his name but we really think it suits him, so Boss he is. We like to call him The Boss or Boss Man. He's a Chiguagua/Fox Terrier mix and he is tiny! You just can't tell from pictures how small he really is. His mom was 12 pounds and his dad was 7 pounds so I imagine he wont get much bigger than 10 pounds. So I guess now we have 5 kids! I knew there was someone missing, here he is.

It's a little early for her to start trying to borrow my credit cards!

She's even drooling over the thought of what she might buy!

Or maybe she's drooling because she knows I just bought her a SLEW of new clothes from Matilda Jane Clothing. They are having a 60% off sale for the next month clearing out all their inventory to bring in the spring. Check it out at www.matildajaneclothing.com, they have some seriously cute stuff for you little girls.
